Build Your Own Ice Arena and Score Like Bombay

Indoor Ice Arena

Many of hockey’s greatest legends, from Wayne Gretzky to Gordon Bombay, perfected their slap shots on personal ice rinks. You can too with your own ice arena by Custom Ice Inc.

Based in Burlington Ontario, Canada, Custom Ice builds high-end residential and commercial rinks throughout North America. The company offers both portable and permanent ice rink systems. (A portable ice rink can be rolled up and stored away in the spring, whereas a permanent rink has piping embedded in a concrete pad). Each project is custom-built to your specific site’s requirements, so standardized pricing does not apply. However, you can expect to drop $25,000 to $125,000 for a portable rink and $200,000 to $600,000 for a larger permanent rink. All accessories, such as wallboards, come at an additional cost.

If hockey isn’t your sport, and you just want your backyard to look like something out of a Disney movie, Custom Ice can hook that up too. In 2004 they built the portable pond-like rink for Disney’s Ice Princess movie (pictured in the thumbnails below) and they’ve worked on other studio projects as well.
