Three Million Year Old Mastodon Skeleton on eBay
March 11th, 2008 by BallerHouseFor the first time ever on eBay, a nearly intact three million year old Mastodon skeleton is up for grabs. Discovered beside a stream on Rustler Ranch in North Eastern California, the Mastodon skeleton took six members of the Oakland Museum science department staff eight days to excavate. The remains were packed up and driven to the Oakland Museum where they remained from October 1999 to June 2002. The mastodon skeleton is currently located in Sebastopol, California. All the bones are sealed in plaster on pallets, ready to be moved. The minimum bid is set at $115,000 with the auction ending March 14. Some speculate the skeleton could fetch upwards of $800,000.
