Giant Digital Ceiling Clock Provides Design Ispiration
May 29th, 2008 by BallerHouse
Too lazy to turn over to read the clock? Too sophisticated to buy a cheap projecting alarm clock? Here’s an idea: construct a giant digital clock for your ceiling like the Contemporary Architecture installation commissioned by New York based Artistsspace gallery. The only downside is that you’ll have to be a fan of sleeping with the lights on. The Artisspace two digit fixture is composed of fluorescent bulbs that shine bright, lighting up the room like it’s a hospital ward. We see some potential in this concept if it’s scaled down and the bulbs are switched out for something a lot more dull; possibly spaced out, colored LED bulbs. On the upside, the Contemporary Architecture installation has plenty of room for a ceiling mirror or two. And the clock would definitely light up the action. While it’s difficult to take a good video of a clock in action, you’ll find a quick clip of the gallery showing after the jump.
