Harris Diamant’s Sculpted Heads
June 4th, 2008 by BallerHouse
Today we came across an interesting series of head sculptures from New York based artist Harris Diamant, available for sale through Obsolete. Encased in glass, Diamant’s head sculptures look to be inspired by Hannibal, although we’re not exactly sure what’s fueling the artist’s fire, especially given that he was born in 1937.
From Diamant’s head series, our favorite work is Hoodwinks and Cinders, completed in 2007 and pictured above. The heads incorporated many materials, including brass, gold, steel, enamel, wood, glass, Bakelite, and leather. Techniques applied to the scuptures include wood carving, silver soldering, brazing, welding, lathe-turning, and gold leafing.
Harris Diamont is no stranger to the art world or the press, as his work has been featured in past issues of big gallery showings, Harper’s Magazine, and ABC Nightline.
Prices on Harris Diamant’s head sculptures are available upon request from Obsolete. Check out the image gallery below.
