Anna Colombo Brings the Heat with Her Outrageous Fire Sculptures
August 5th, 2008 by BallerHouse
Over the past two days we’ve come across a variety of fantastic fire features, but none has impressed us as much as artist Anne Colombo’s outrageously innovative fire sculptures. Trained as a classical sculptor, Anne Colombo heads the Brooklyn-based Colombo Construction Company (CCC), a full-service conceptual design and fabrication firm specializing in large-scale fire, water and wind works. The company works with clients to create site-specific sculptures that are baller beyond belief. With each fire sculpture Colombo helps to “restore the hearth as a ceremonial place and as a point of convergence,” the function it’s served for the past 600,000 years with the exception of the last 100 or so.
Since Anne Colombo’s work stands for itself, we’ve chosen a large selection of our favorite fire sculptures from CCC’s 2008 collection to highlight in our image gallery below. Each fire sculpture carries a set price tag, with works starting at $4,000 and ranging up to $85,000.
