The Sustainable Dance Floor

December 16th, 2008 by BallerHouse

While the Sustainable Dance floor wouldn’t necessarily be the best fit for your home bar or nightclub, we think this is a pr0mising product that may have some sort of residential application in the future. Here’s how it works:

  • The Sustainable Dance Floor is made up of smart electronics, software and materials that capture the energy put out by the people dancing on it and changing it into electricity.
  • This electricity is used to power the LED lights in the dance floor, and the dance floor lights up depending on how much electricity it receives.
  • Excess electricity can be used to fuel the rest of the nightclub.

Produced by Dutch company Sustainable Dance Club, the Sustainable Dance Floor has already been installed at Club Watt in Rotterdam, which also features a “Minimal Waiste Bar, Pee Experience, and Green Oasis and Inner Garden.”  Check out the video above for a closer look at the Sustainable Dance Floor.
