The entrance to your home can say a lot about you & judging by the door above, the owner of this house is very cool & he should be – he’s a very wealthy diamond merchant in India.

The door was created specially for his home by Matharoo Associates, an architectural firm in  India who designed the door to act like a wave when it opens.

The door is quite massive: it’s 17 feet high, 5 & a half feet wide & is made from individual sections of Burmese teak that almost a foot thick each.

There’s some complex mechanisms hiding within that beautiful wave however: the door’s single pivot point houses a counterweight, a system of 160 pulleys & 80 ball bearings!

The door is opened by pushing or pulling on on plank -  all 40 sections of the door then reconfigure themselves into a sinusoidal curve, allowing you to enter or exit the house.

It’s an incredible engineering feat & it’s resulted in one extremely unique & absolutely stunning door!
