Musical Timepiece from Steinway & Sons

November 12th, 2010 by Des

Steinway & Sons are more well-known for their classy pianos, but it seems they’ve been delving into the watchmaking business for a few years now, thanks to the partnership with a Swiss watchmaker named Jean-Marc Wiederrecht.

Their latest offering is an unusual timepiece that is seeing a 300 unit limited edition release & will surely be a collector’s item.

The Seconde Metronomique is not only for collectors of fine watches, but also for musicians & piano aficionados. It features a a metronome second hand complication that beats away the seconds in a way that is similar to a metronome.

The watch’s movement is a C60 Caliber, hand-wound with 19 jewels & a dial available in white gold, black or white enamelled.

There will be 100 available units with the casing in 18k rose gold, yellow gold, or white gold respectively & the timepiece has a water resistance to 30m.

The watch strap is made from Louisiana alligator leather & features a solid buckle that compliments the shape of the case shape.

There’s no word on pricing yet, so you’ll have to keep your eyes open for one of these striking pieces in luxury watch shops.
