The range of accessories in the iPhone 4 Camera market is growing by leaps and bounds, given the superior camera on the device. A few posts back, we featured the Telephoto Lens and now here’s an even better Turtleback Turtle Jacket (a camera case) with UV filter that makes your iPhone look like a really cool digital camera. Further, accessories such as strap, conversion lens, telescope, and tripod can be attached to the case to improve the performance and range of the iPhone 4 Camera. It couldn’t get any cooler than that, could it?
The Turtle Jacket is a 2 part aluminum iPhone camera case with UV filter. You can fit any 37mm lens to it and be ready to shoot (there is a 37mm female thread on the case to fit conversion lenses). Turtleback also offers 60mm (for close range), 21mm (for long range) and 8mm (for fish-eye view) lenses (all of these are priced separately). The case has two holes in the bottom portion to attach a tripod. Two holes are also provided for a camera strap. If you attach a strap to it (not included with case but available at the same retailer), your friends would mistake your iPhone for a trendy digital camera.
Not included with the aluminum case above but sold separately, is a monocular and a field scope for taking close up images and videos of nature, flora, fauna and your two legged friends. You can even take close up shots of the Moon, just like the professional images. The only downside is that the jacket casing is made of aluminum which is sometimes known to interfere with cellular signals. The coating may also peel off due to excessive friction.
The Turtle Jacket with UV filter and screw is priced at US$151 whereas the 37mm high definition lens is sold separately at US$77, and the field scope is available for US$360. If you’d like a tripod as well, you would have to incur US$28 for a Manfrotto Modopocket.
When all the incidentals add up, it may seem worthwhile to save those baller bucks for a DSLR, don’t you think? However, if you love geeky stuff, go for it! There are lots of guys out there who think that Turtleback accessories for the iPhone 4 are really cool.
