Own Katherine Hepburn’s Fenwick Estate for $28M

If you have been looking out for potential avenues to park your baller money, you may want to consider investing it in a piece of celebrity real estate pie. The seemingly unending 3.5 acre waterfront estate that four-time Academy Award winning Hollywood Actress Katherine Hepburn called home up until she passed away in the year 2003, is on the market for a whopping $28M. The home is located a few miles off Long Island Sound estuary in the Fenwick Borough of Old Saybrook in Connecticut.

Katherine Hepburn is one of the most celebrated Hollywood actresses of all time with record Academy award wins and several nominations. Hepburn hails from a wealthy family in Old Saybrook, CT and has played prominent roles in movies such as Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, Bringing up Baby, and The African Queen.

Here is a rundown of the estate’s modifications, renovations and ownership history. The sprawling home was originally built in was built in 1913. Thereafter, in the year 1938, when The Great New England Hurricane reportedly destroyed the home, Hepburn rebuilt the house and also raised it several feet in the process. She was the sole owner of the home up until 2003. After the actress’ passing away in the same year, the property was purchased by Barbara and Frank Sciame (CEO of F.J. Sciame Construction), who modified it extensively.

During the modifications, the entire estate was divided into three lots. The first lot that houses the Hepburn home is the most expensive and can also be purchased on its own for $18M. The home that boasts more than 8,000 square feet of living space features a pond, private dock, beach, 6 bedrooms, 7.5 baths and a recently upgraded kitchen. High ceilings and architectural detailing adorn the home while oversized windows and French doors offer breathtaking beach views.
