A Grand Meditative Reading Space for your Home

September 8th, 2011 by Purnima

Have a large open space either in your terrace garden or just by a window? If you’re a bibliophile, then you might have, perhaps, envisaged a contemplation chair for your library? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then take a nice close look at a rather unusual, innovative, grand and original luxury piece of furniture from the award winning Swiss-born designer Claudio D’amore, titled Kosha. Kosha is not your average reading chair with a light and book shelf, as you might have already figured. Instead, it is a secluded meditative space to retire when you’re done with the day’s chores and want to unwind and de-stress in the company of a book. Kosha is a piece of sculpture that bridges the gap between art and design.

Kosha is akin to a hammock style bed with no strings attached. It is made of 33 strips of wood, all individually machined to precision and then hand assembled with attention paid to the minutest detail. You can even store your prized books in the 10 niches that are provided ensuring that they are within arm’s reach. Privacy and seclusion are afforded at all times, thanks to its all enveloping design.

The reading unit measures 186.5 x 115.5 x 103 cm (H) and weighs 160 kgs. It can be divided into four detachable sections. The headrest and seating are available in leather, white and black options. Wood finish options include walnut, matte varnish, birch plywood and dark matte varnish.

The ergonomics are precise, the design is timeless and the lines are clean and curvaceous – everything you could imagine, desire and expect- all from a single piece of furniture. Inspiring, isn’t it?

Step into this open cocoon, enjoy your prized read and sink into a blissful slumber, if you please. Kosha is every perfectionist’s dream come true and designer creativity at its very best. A piece so exclusive, that only the ballers can afford it. Price is available on request.
