If you jog your memories back by a month or two, you may recollect a rather unique looking iPhone dock that we wrote about – yep, the one that was made out of a tree trunk. Since then no new launches had caught our fancy, at least not until we saw this latest iPhone docking station called MegaPhone by Italian design house en&is . If the recession hasn’t overwhelmed you just yet and you’re feeling a bit indulgent this holiday season, take a look at this rather cool looking device that is like a breath of fresh air from a design standpoint. Unique from the word go, the Megaphone is guaranteed to tickle your fancy just as it did ours.
The device bears a striking resemblance from an old megaphone might be retrieved from Grandpa’s attic. Before you begin to reach out to press X on your browser, allow us to give you our take on this rather stylish and unique piece of gadgetry. The MegaPhone is much like a traditional megaphone in that it really doesn’t set that electric meter ticking. Neither does it use any batteries. In that sense, it is pretty much a neat green device. Just plug your iPhone at the tip of the horn and you’re ready for some mean amplification acoustics. Sounds really simple, doesn’t it?
The material used in crafting the MegaPhone is ceramic while the base on which it rests is made of wood. The device is available in white, gold plated and black versions so you won’t have to deal with color co-ordination issues when it comes to matching it to your existing iPhone.
So what’s the asking price? Not too much for a baller at $550 for a white/black version and $820 for the gold plated one. Whether you’re using it as an iPhone dock or simply as an adornment in your living room, there is a high probability that you will earn yourself the distinction of being labeled as the coolest dude in the neighborhood with that ultra stylish yet retro piece of gadgetry.
