Transparent Smart Windows from Samsung

Are you a technoholik – i.e. do you love to own the latest gizmos/gadgets on the market? Quite honestly, there isn’t a baller guy we know who doesn’t get an adrenalin rush from owning futuristic and technological advanced stuff - whether it is a personal gadget or home-related equipment or the coolest and snazziest machine out there. If you fit into that lot, take a look at the Smart Digital Window by Samsung (not MS Windows, mind you) that was presented at the CES trade show in Vegas recently.

So what exactly is the Smart Window and what is so special about it? Just to make sure that all of us are on the same page, let’s just clarify that we’re indeed talking about the transparent windows in your home that allow you to enjoy the views outside. If you were to add a little bit of intelligence and a host of digital display capabilities to your regular window, you might get close to what the folks at Samsung are offering. It is like saying that your window begins to act like a transparent smart TV. You can install it anywhere you want to – in the kitchen, bedroom, living room in place of your existing window.  As we said earlier – it is transparent; however, what you do on your window is only visible to you (not your neighbors or passers by). The back portion of the window does not have the digital display feature.

What features does it offer? Let’s say you want to check the weather outside.  You don’t need to open the window, just click on it for the weather statistics. If you’re in the kitchen and want to try out some new recipes for breakfast, just use your window. Whether you want to listen to the news or check out the latest football scores or even check whether your outbound flight is on time – the Samsung digital window will do the job for you eliminating the need for other devices. It measures 46” diagonally and provides a 1366 X 768 pixel resolution. And just in case, you feel like another nap during the day, there is a switch available that will draw the blinds on the window.

The Smart Window is expected to be launched in the upcoming months. For more information and to watch a video, please click here.
