Luxury designer Andrée Putman, known for her work with Louis Vuitton, Chivas, and other high-end brands has partnered with France’s oldest piano maker, Pleyel, to release a modern baby grand piano intended for contemporary cribs. Dubbed Voie Lactée, the black lacquer and chrome baby grand features a number of lavish details, from its mother of pearl checkerboard music stand to its star-studded blue finish on the underside of the piano lid.  Two versions of the contemporary baby grand will be produced: a numbered edition of which only eight will be made, and a less-exclusive unlimited edition. Goldstriker Adds 24K to The Watch Table

August 14th, 2008 by BallerHouse

watch table

The folks at custom gold-plating company Goldstriker have given a 24k golden touch to artist/engineer Lee J. Rowland’s LED Watch Table, with the custom piece selling for $43,150. This one might even be too gaudy for us, but we’re a fan of the table itself, which has been precision engineered in steel, glass, acrylic and flock lining for the drawer interiors. The best part about Rowland’s Watch Table is the LED face, which displays the time down to the second and can be programmed to display custom messages up to 8 characters long. Without the plating, the watch table sells for $37,000.

In addition to the Watch Table Lee J. Rowland can produce a variety of other completely unique custom furniture pieces and accessories, definitely worth a look.

More Fly Aviation Furniture from Motoart

August 8th, 2008 by BallerHouse

helicopter table, sykorsky

Motoart, maker of the bomb tables we showed you back in February, has released some fly new aviation art furniture that you can pick up for your home or office. The company’s most recent featured piece is the Sikorsky S-58 Composite Cooling Fan table pictured above, which rests on a Rolls Royce RB-211 Engine Shaft Spine for support. For those unfamiliar with old-school Sikorsky’s, the S-58 was one of the largest helicopters with a piston engine that was built in the 1950’s, used primarily by the Navy for satellite recovery missions. And the RB-211 engine is the “big daddy” of the Rolls Royce engine lineup, built in the 1960’s for wide-body airliners.

Motoart’s 2008 catalog also offers some other cool new airplane furniture, including the DC-9 Desk, the C-119 Coffee Table, the DC-4 Conference Table, and the B-52 Ejection Chair. Check them out in the gallery below. Prices are available upon request from Motoart.
