DLP 3-D ready TV is being marketed as “the next big thing in HD TV.” Unfortunately, if you want to feel like a part of movies, you’re still going to have to make the trip to your local IMAX. Unless you build an IMAX theater in your home.
At CES, we were given the opportunity to screen Beowulf in 3-D TV, and we were not impressed. Here’s a short summary of why the 3-D TV experience is lacking: Read the rest of this entry »

During our time at CES, we saw A LOT of new televisions. But one stood out among the rest: Sharp’s 108″ Aquos.
Why it’s baller
The 108” Aquos is the world’s largest LCD TV. And although this LCD isn’t quite as large as Panasonic’s 150” plasma, it delivers a significantly sharper image. In fact, the 108” Aquos’ picture rivals even the best of its smaller competitiors.
When it’s due
Sharp says it will bring the Aquous to market this summer. The company has not yet specified a price tag, but we’ll be keeping our ears open.

Have you ever wished you could have a TV that takes up an entire wall in your house? Panasonic aims to take that dream to a new level with its Life Wall concept, introduced as an extension to its new internet-connected Viera HD TVs. The Life Wall is a touch-screen television monitor that literally takes up an entire wall in a house, allowing easy access to videos, photos, and phone calls. The display is fully customizable so that you can create a theme to match the decor of the room in which it’s kept.
We were fortunate enough to sit in on the world premiere of this new technology, and it is pretty sick. Panasonic used Google Earth in their demo, and it looked like a better version of the Dad Finder from the movie Richie Rich. No word on the drop date yet, but the Life Wall is definitely a product worth keeping an eye on.

So far at CES, Panasonic has come out with its guns blazing. Of the company’s “big” new launches, the product that’s caught everybody’s eye is a 150” plasma screen television. The new plasma, fresh out of the Panasonic labs, is 9 times larger than the company’s 50” model. Panasonic reps are keeping quiet on the TV’s technical specs, but they’ve hinted that we can expect this beast to be out sometime in 2009. No word yet on the expected price.
