Back on the 18th, we showed you how you can bring a climbing wall into your home. Now, with the AquaClimb, we’re letting you know that you can put one into your pool as well. Angled at a 10-degree overhang, the AquaClimb lets you scale a 10-foot wall without protective ropes or special gear. The AquaClimb’s non-slip fiberglass panels come hand-sculpted with overhangs, underhangs, and cracks, similar to real rock. Depending on one’s fitness level, the panels can be adjusted to make the climb more or less challenging. The Six Panel AquaClimb will set you back $8,000.

Banzai’s Skim Board Slide

March 21st, 2008 by BallerHouse

skimboard-surfer-slide.jpg

The Banzai Skim Board Surfer is such a smart and simple idea, we’re surprised this product concept didn’t make it to market sooner. Here’s how it works: the 26-foot slide connects to a garden hose, which fills bumpers on the sides of the slide. Spray nozzles on the bumper shoot water into the slide’s inner reservoir, filling it with a few inches of water in minutes. The slide is then ready to start skimming. Available through Wally World for just under $50, the Banzai Skim Board Surfer is a bargain, considering the package comes with a 30” skim board included. Just beware that the board is not “pro quality,” like some retailers are trying to market it.

Rock climbing is without a doubt one of the hardest and most entertaining workouts out there. So if you’ve got the space and the cash, why not add a climbing wall to your home gym? We were curious to know which companies construct the most legit custom climbing walls, so we did some research and present to you two of our favorites: Rockwerx and American Rock Climbing.

Rockwerx

Rockwerx specializes in highly custom and permanent indoor and outdoor climbing walls made from three materials: Modular Panels, Gym Rock, and Natural Rock. The company’s walls can be found throughout the country in climbing gyms, universities, fitness centers, and other locations. We’re a fan of Rockwerx because their walls project a one-of-a-kind look and a high-quality appearance. After the jump, you’ll see two of our favorite installations done by the company.

The Zorb Extreme Backyard Inflatable

February 6th, 2008 by BallerHouse

zorb1.jpg

You may have seen the Zorb on Road Rules New Zealand back in the day. At the time, it could only be found in New Zealand. But now, this extreme inflatable riding sphere is penetrating other locations throughout the globe, allowing riders to tumble down hills and across water without a scratch.

The Zorb is constructed from two transparent skins, separated by an inflatable area, with tubes between the two layers that allow the rider to breathe. The inflatable area provides enough padding and buoyancy that you can ride the Zorb down a bumpy hill or float it down a river. If you’d prefer to walk on water, you can do that too (think moving hamster wheel). And if you’re worried about losing your lunch, apparently over 100,000 people have used the Zorb and no one has ever vomited. Read the rest of this entry »

The Swimming Pool Room

Outdoor swimming pool table

Taking its outdoor pool table to the extreme, All Weather Billiards & Gaming performed the custom install above for a pool in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The outdoor table sits in its own walled in “room” within the pool; although the room appears to be little more than a kiddie pool. Anyway you look at this pool table in a pool concept though, it’s cool. Pricing for an outdoor pool table from All Weather Billiards & Gaming varies according to table type and custom options, but you can expect to drop between $3,500 and $18,500.
